Ideal Machinery, traditionally known for its role selling used machinery and equipment, is branching out into new equipment, officials announced during the Plastics Shop Floor Expo, held June 14-15 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.

There, Ideal displayed its new hot-runner controller, with the controller card provided by Ideal and the casing supplied by ITC Inc. Ideal is designing controllers with up to 48 zones, said Steve DeMasellis, president of the company.

"We couldn't provide our customers with the [equipment they need], so we're branching out into new products," he said. The hot-runner controllers are priced at $139 and are built to order by Ideal.

Ideal's new line of vacuum loaders, which includes five models, was on display during the trade show.

The loaders are available for same-day shipping, because Ideal keeps them stocked at its location in Holly, Mich.

Two of the models are designed for mounting to the feed throat on the injection molding machine or extruder. With throughputs of 200 and 400 pounds per hour, they retail for $1,395 and $1,495, respectively.

The other three models are designed to be mounted to the hopper. They have throughputs of 200 ($1,195), 400 ($1,295) and 600 pounds per hour ($1,395).

All of the models are self-cleaning, DeMasellis said.

"It's a time-saving element," he said. "You do not have to pull a filter out to clean it manually. It is done automatically through the control on the unit, which saves time and labor costs."

DeMasellis said that temperature control units, chillers and dryers will be offered in the future.
