Kennametal's new milling cutter is ideal for metal removal in shoulder milling applications, from roughing to finishing.

Mill 4-11 Kennametal's new milling cutter is ideal for metal removal in shoulder milling applications, from roughing to finishing. It features a double-sided insert with four cutting edges and can accommodate 40-taper CAT and BT, HSK50 and similarly sized spindles.

What's new? The tool, which has the same design as the company's Mill 4-15 version, but is 24 percent shorter and 34 percent narrower.

Benefits The ability to produce smaller parts and features while maintaining fast metal-removal speeds and long tool life. The Mill 4-11's high positive geometry results in lower cutting forces, higher feed rates and improved production when working on steel, cast iron, stainless steel, nonferrous materials and high-temperature alloys. Also, every tool in the Mill 4 series features a double-sided, 90-degree milling platform specifically designed to minimize the stair-step effect that plagues so many square shoulder indexable milling cutters.
