Mastercam 2017 CNC Software has released a new version of its Mastercam CAD/CAM, which was developed to optimize the machining process for molds and tooling.

What's new? A simplified "ribbon system" of organization, which helps users find the tools they need by grouping similar functions together on tabs and listing them in order, from the simplest to the most complex. The company's Dynamic Motion Technology moves a tool through unobstructed areas via micro lifts, which elevate the tool a tiny distance between the end of one cut and the beginning of the next cut to keep it from rubbing. Finally, the Maximum Stock Engagement feature protects smaller tools and materials by limiting how deeply the cutter penetrates.

Benefits Ease of use, faster cycle times, less waste and improved workflow. The ribbon system is quick and easy to use; Dynamic Motion Technology reduces wear on the cutting tool while repositioning it more quickly and efficiently; and Maximum Stock Engagement reduces waste and prevents damage to smaller tools by preventing the machining blades from cutting too deeply.
