Guill's new extrusion crosshead series features a mechanically assisted gum-space-adjustment (MAGS) system to set the pressure on the substrate being extruded.

500 series Designed for elastomers, Guill's new extrusion crosshead series features a mechanically assisted gum-space-adjustment (MAGS) system to set the pressure on the substrate being extruded. It can be used as a drop-in replacement on most NRM extruders made by Davis-Standard, Pawcatuck, Conn., or adapted to fit other extruder designs.

What's new? The crosshead, which debuted last month at the Wire Association International Inc. Summit and Wire Expo. It features a newly designed flow inlet to reduce shear and heat.

Benefits Quick and easy gum-space adjustment. With MAGS, operators can make the adjustment using just a socket wrench. To assist the operator, the visual indicator on the core tube provides a way to see how far the gum space has moved; with this information, adjustments can be more accurate and repeatable. In addition, the crosshead has been designed for easy concentricity adjustments and features a liquid-fed cooling sleeve that can be switched out quickly.
