Sipa Xtreme Sincro cuts bottle weight, energy use

Feb. 27, 2015

Xtreme Sincro system This injection compression stretch blow molding system (ICSBM) for PET bottle production from Sipa SpA combines a preform compression injection system with a high-speed stretch blow molding unit.

What's new? One compact ICSBM system that offers the flexibility of a two-stage system with single-stage convenience by integrating two Sipa technologies introduced in mid-2013 — an Xtreme injection compression system for preform production and an SFR EVO3 rotary stretch blow molder that can produce up to 2,250 bottles an hour per cavity. The integrated system can be connected to Sipa's filling equipment.

Benefits Reduced energy use. Preforms do not require immediate cooling after molding or much reheating before blowing, and small induction ovens direct heat only at areas just below the preform's neck. The Xtreme system uses 10 percent less energy than an injection molding system with similar output and SFR EVO3 ovens cut electric use by up to 40 percent. Preforms are up to 10 percent lighter than conventionally injection molded preforms, with no loss of key properties.
