Makino boosts work area of 5-axis center

Nov. 26, 2014

D800Z  This latest five-axis vertical machining center for mold making from Makino features a compact size, a large window for good visibility, a two-sided front-door design for easy access to spindle and table, and five-face milling capability.

What's new?  The largest work zone of Makino's D-Series five-axis vertical machining centers. The D800Z accommodates complex, tight-tolerance, multi-sided die and mold components with diameters as large as 3.3 feet and weighing as much as 1.3 tons. Two available spindle combinations (with 40- and

48-tool magazines, respectively) include a range of customized options.

Benefits  D-Series technology sustains accuracy with thermal stability. The Z-shaped tilting trunnion table keeps the working center of gravity inside the center of rotation of B and C axes. Large-diameter ball bearings minimize table deflection. Eco mode turns off unneeded peripheral devices to save energy.
