Power Wasp 45 HDP Wasp developed this large-scale fused-granulate-fabrication, extrusion-based 3D printer to meet the needs of boat makers for large-scale, customized parts with complex geometries. Users include ColorYacht, which makes hatches, folding drawers, dashboards and seat supports for Ferretti Yachts, an Italian yacht maker.
What’s new? The printer. The latest in the Wasp HDP (High-Definition Pellet) line, the technology represents a jump in the series’ maximum printing volume and boasts a new kinematic system.
Benefits The ability to manufacture parts that would not be achievable with a traditional Cartesian or delta kinematics printer. Because it prints at a 45-degree angle, it is capable of producing large, complex components without the need for supports and with minimal shrinkage. In this way, it can manufacture parts with better surface quality, greater mechanical strength and better force distribution.
