KraussMaffei Group, the Munich-based manufacturer of plastic process machines and automation, announced that its new main plant in Parsdorf, just east of Munich, has successfully shipped its first injection molding machine (IMM).
The first machine, a GX 451-3000, is on its way a facility in Edinburgh, Ind. Meanwhile, the relocation of its main plant and corporate headquarters from Munich-Allach to Parsdorf has been a nearly three-year journey for KraussMaffei, which expects to complete the shift by the end of the year.
The company has moved manufacture of IMMs, reaction process machinery and additive manufacturing to Parsdorf, which is the company's largest facility by far, with almost 2.7 million square feet of floor space. It also houses a large customer experience center, the group's largest spare parts warehouse and a new paint shop. While its automation is still located in Schwaig for now, it is expected to follow in the coming year.
The company commissioned a new production facility in Jiaxing, China, in 2020, and later opened new German plants in Einbeck and Laatzen (near Hanover). The company plans to vacate its site in the Allach district of Munich by the end of the year.
