Recycling lines tailored to particular materials and customer needs now are available through Gneuss.

At the K Show, the family-owned maker of extruders, filters and screen changers will show off its first turnkey recycling lines. The particular setup can recycle 450 pounds of undried and uncrystallized thermoformed PET an hour.

Branded under the name Omni, the lines include a variety of machines from Gneuss’ portfolio. As an example, the company’s exhibit will feature an MRSjump 70 extruder and an RSFgenius 90 melt filtration system working in conjunction with a new rotary feeder, called the 3C, which will make its debut at the show.

“With our Omni recycling machines, we now offer turnkey solutions that are customized to a specific material and application utilizing our innovative devolatilizing and filtration technologies, from one single source,” Monika Gneuss, VP of sales and marketing manager, wrote in an email to Plastics Machinery & Manufacturing.

The equipment can include a Gneuss rotary filtration system and pelletizer and vacuum system. The lines “can also be coupled with other downstream equipment for direct recycling into e.g. sheet, strapping tape or fiber,” Gneuss said in her email. When equipped with an MRS extruder, the setup is known as an Omni; when the line is outfitted with an MRSjump extruder, as at the K Show, it is called an OmniMax or, if it also has a Jump reactor from Gneuss, an OmniBoost.

Depending on the configuration, throughputs can range from 300 pounds per hour to 4,000 pounds per hour.

The lines have earned Letters of Non Objection from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, so the recycled PS, PP and PET they produce can be transformed into food packaging.

In addition to the line, the company will show PP tubs for food applications made with 30 percent post-consumer recycled (PCR) PP, as well as PS sheet made from 30 percent PCR PS.

Gneuss will display its technologies at Hall 9, Booth A38.
