KraussMaffei announced work has been completed on a new plant for the production of extrusion systems and recycling equipment in the German city of Laatzen, near Hanover. The new facility covers 1.04 million square feet, and production has continued throughout the relocation period, which started in July and is expected to end by December.
The Laatzen facility features networked production, data processing in real time, process visualization and data evaluation. It will house all KrausMaffei extrusion technologies in one location, and that combined with the use of state-of-the-art machine tools will increase production efficiency and offer customers shorter delivery times.
KraussMaffei CEO Michael Ruf said, “In our new extrusion and recycling technology center, we are placing an even stronger focus on circular economy. This means that in Laatzen we are going to develop new solutions to make recycling processes even more efficient and thus more attractive. For example, we are going to work on a variety of digital products designed to optimize the energy efficiency of our customers' machine utilization.”
The move is part of the company’s new location strategy involving the relocation of four sites to larger and more modern production facilities.
With global headquarters in Munich, KraussMaffei manufactures injection molding, extrusion and reaction process machinery.
