US Extruders introduces two machines for pipe, profile and tubing
US Extruders in September introduced two new extruders suitable for pipe, profile and tubing applications.
A new rubber and silicone extruder includes a one-piece barrel with a stainless-steel lining that extends through the feed section for superior processing, according to the company. The hinged opening feed section allows an operator easy access to the feeder roll and allows for a replaceable feed cooling jacket.
The extruder is available with barrel diameters ranging from 0.75 inch to 6 inches with stainless steel, chrome and X-800 wetted surfaces throughout the construction. X-800 is a corrosion-resistant and high-wear material used as a barrel liner.
It offers a servo or vector gear motor feed roll drive with torque control.
For silicone applications, the extruder is available in a 12:1 L:D ratio; the rubber configuration is a 16:20 L:D ratio.
The extruder is suitable for silicone applications such as production of medical and non-medical tubing and electrical wire and various profiles, such as oven door seals.
The second new machine is a 2.5-inch, 24:1 L:D extruder that comes equipped with an 80-horsepower direct-drive motor with an encoder for fine speed control.
The direct-drive motor operates without a gear box, and so requires no oil lubricant or cooling, and takes up less space overall than a traditional motor and gear box. This design is also lighter, suffers less wear and tear and is more energy efficient.
A removable barrel extension comes as an option. The barrel extension changes the extruder from a 24:1 L:D ratio to a 30:1 L:D ratio.
“We are dedicated to designing features that focus on the user as well as increasing overall strength, efficiency and serviceability,” said Bill Kramer, US Extruders president. “Each extruder is designed to order and built to a customer’s unique specifications.”
US Extruders sells equipment for the tubing, pipe, profile, reclaim, film, sheet, medical, wire, cable and compounding industries, producing extruders with barrels ranging from 0.5 inch to 8 inches in diameter.
