New Kuka robot offers a larger reach, payload

KR 4 Agilus Kuka’s Agilus line of compact robots can handle a wide range of roles, from pick-and-place and kitting tasks to assembly, applying and gluing, inspection, machine tending, material transport and measuring. They can be mounted to the floor, wall, ceiling or at an angle, and come with an integrated energy supply that is compatible with most connections.

What’s new? The KR 4, which has a 38 percent larger work envelope than its predecessor, the KR 3.

Benefits Lower total cost of ownership. The KR 4 has lower investment and operating costs than competing robots, and its high reliability cuts maintenance expenditures. It has a maximum payload of 8.8 pounds, a reach of almost 2 feet, and when handling a payload of 6.6 pounds, the KR 4 can reach a top cycle time of 0.4 seconds. It works with Kuka’s KR C5 micro controller and can operate in temperatures from 32 degrees to 131 degrees Fahrenheit.
