The Multivac Group announced the official opening of its new production site in India. Construction on the approximately $9.85 million, 107,640-square-foot project was completed in less than two years at the industrial area of Ghiloth, about 75 miles southwest of Delhi.
The complex will go into operation early this year. The goal is for this sales and production facility to improve product supply for customers in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, offering shorter delivery times.
Headquartered in Wolfertschwenden, Germany, Multivac makes machines and lines designed and built for the processing, slicing, labelling, inspection and packaging.
Initially, around 60 people will be employed at the new site in India.
“The South Asian region has become increasingly important for us in recent years,” Multivac CEO Christian Traumann said. “Us opening a modern plant in one of the largest and fastest-growing economies in the world today is therefore a further milestone in the internationalization of Multivac.”
