Next Generation R-series Ingersoll Rand has added new models to its Next Generation R-series of oil-flooded, rotary-screw air compressors for high-capacity industrial applications. The compressors feature progressive adaptive control, which means that the control system monitors key performance parameters that indicate when consumable parts are nearing the end of their life, or if operating temperatures are too high. The system makes the appropriate adjustments to keep the machine running without overloading the motor, preventing unnecessary shutdowns. Critical fittings are secured with O-ring face seals to prevent leaks. Also, the machine's Ultra EL lubricant lasts up to 16,000 hours, minimizing downtime and lowering costs.
What's new? Five models, ranging from 185 kilowatts (kW) to 260 kW, and their improved compressor-screw elements, which also are known as air-ends. The models are available with either single-stage or two-stage air-ends, and also come in fixed-speed and variable-speed versions.
Benefits Energy and cost savings. The new fixed-speed models are 16 percent more efficient compared to earlier models, and the variable-speed units are up to 35 percent more efficient than the industry average. The company says the compressors can each save $30,000 in energy costs per year, compared to previous models.
