Engel's first sprue picker is based on the same technology as its e-pic pick-and-place robot. It combines linear movements with a swivel arm.

Servo sprue picker Engel's latest sprue picker is based on the same technology as its e-pic pick-and-place robot. It is designed to work with injection molding machines with clamping forces of 67 tons to 247 tons, and can handle weights of up to 2.2 pounds.

What's new? No Z axis. The robot, Engel's first sprue picker, combines linear movements with a swivel arm. Instead of having a Z axis, like the e-pic, the sprue picker can rotate as much as 110 degrees on its pedestal. The company introduced the robot at the K show.

Benefits Compact design and low energy consumption. Also, one less axis translates into reduced maintenance costs.
