Eagle shredder with Split-a-Part option Republic Machine's shredder, which it calls "the workhorse of the shredder market," features a single-piece, solid, forged rotor and reversible counterknives that can be resharpened. An open-architecture Allen-Bradley PLC and an over-torque-limiting clutch, which protects the drivetrain, also is included. Options include replaceable cutting tool holders and customizable control systems for infeed conveyors and outfeed devices. Though the shredder can handle a variety of materials, including wood, rubber and medical waste, the company says its major market is recyclers of post-industrial plastics.

What's new? Upgrades to the Eagle shredder and the addition of the Split-a-Part option. The new features were shown at NPE; the design of the Split-a-Part Eagle is under patent review.

Benefits Quicker order fulfillment and more options, thanks to the Eagle's heavy-duty, modular construction. Choices include shredder dimensions and horsepower. In addition, two cutting systems are available: The Hawksbill square cutting system has been designed for large solids and difficult materials, and the Zoidal cutting system for films and fibers. The Split-a-Part feature, which previously has been available in more expensive machines, allows easier access to the shredder for cleaning and maintenance. Operators of a Split-a-Part Eagle can enter the machine without climbing inside of it, a procedure that requires a confined-space permit in some areas.
