Illig entry-level thermoformer back, with upgrades

Nov. 26, 2014

UA 100Ed  This upgraded, but basic, sheet thermoforming machine, from Illig Maschinenbau GmbH Co. KG, has a forming area of 960mm by 560mm (37.8 inches by 22.05 inches), is loaded manually and offers two expansion options: another upper table and loose part control for demolding of parts that require larger, deeper undercuts. The entry-level UA 100Ed is a relaunch, after having been replaced in 2002 by Illig's servo-driven, process-controlled UA 100g.

What's New?  A high-performance vacuum pump, central cooling for formed parts, reinforced cooling fans with four adjustable air exhaust elements, ceramic infrared heater elements, and a PLC control with a high-resolution, thin-film-transistor screen and task-oriented user interface.

Benefits  The availability once more of this standard, easy-to-operate machine but with shorter, better-controlled cooling times for consistent part quality despite climate. The cooling system, first developed for Illig's UA-g machines uses less energy overall and offers the option of a cover with integrated elements above the forming station for connecting a suction device. Ceramic infrared heating elements also can cut energy needs by up to 30 percent. Molds built for the original UA 100Ed can be used without modification on the new version.
