Welcome to Machinery Minutes, where at the beginning of each week I share with you three things you need to know in three minutes. You can read the complete stories on plasticsmachinerymanufacturing.com

No. 1 – The return of Donald J. Trump to the White House has some plastics machinery makers feeling optimistic in the wake of the Nov. 5 election. Representatives of some OEMs with overseas headquarters said they believed the former president’s pledge to impose or increase tariffs likely would have minimal impact on their companies.

In fact, some said that Trump’s economic plan might help plastics processors pull the trigger and make some equipment purchases they had been delaying amid uncertainty about the election’s outcome.

To learn more, read our story: “Plastics machinery makers express optimism following election.”

No. 2 – Drone maker Unusual Machines Inc. was experiencing demand for parts that it couldn't satisfy with a contract manufacturer’s process. So, how did it meet the growing demand?

The Orlando-based company turned to 3-D printing needed multiple parts at once using HP’s Multi Jet Fusion printing process. Using that technology, Forecast 3D can print several components at once instead of printing them one at a time, which many other printer technologies require.

Interested in learning more about technology and whether it could help your business? Read our story headlined “Drone maker soars higher with 3D printing.”

No. 3 -- Erica Canaia, the third-generation CEO of Fimic, has grown the recycling machinery company while developing a program for working mothers.

Since having a baby during the desolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canaia is dedicated to seeing that no other working parent at her company goes without support. In recent years, she’s been busy hyping sustainability and developing her approach to accommodating new parents in accordance with Italy’s generous leave policy.

In a profile article written by PMM Senior Reporter Karen Hanna, Canaia discusses how she got her start in the family business, how she grew the company, and how businesses can do a better job accommodating mothers.

Those are my Top 3 items you need to know for this week. We will have a new list every Monday.
