Haas conveyor prevents chip buildup

Aug. 19, 2022
The multiple-auger system, sized for small-frame vertical machining centers, offers fast chip removal with minimal coolant loss.

Dual-auger conveyor Designed as an option for Haas’s VF-1 and VF-2 series vertical machining centers (VMCs), as well as the VM-2, this system helps prevent the buildup of chips created by the machining process. Augers on either side of the system draw chips to the front of a pan, where they are collected and discharged by a belt-style chip conveyor made of heavy-duty steel. The conveyor discharges chips at standard industrial barrel height. The system costs $9,995.

What’s new? The system, sized for Haas’ small-frame vertical machining centers (VMCs).

Benefits Fast chip removal with minimal coolant loss. With the dual-auger system, users can avoid chip buildup that could lead to jams, especially in high-production environments or in shops where machines run overnight. If the system detects a jam, it automatically reverses direction for both the augers and the conveyor. To provide flexibility, the conveyor can be installed on either side of the VMC.
