Actuators Mold-Masters’ hot-runner valve-gate actuators include the company’s waterless actuators and adjustable/quick-release (ADJ/QR) actuators. The waterless actuators feature valve-pin height adjustment and, to simplify mold design and facilitate faster mold changes, they don’t require hose-plumbed cooling circuits, instead using heat transfer to the top clamp plate of the mold to cool.
What’s new? Hydraulic (HY) versions of the waterless actuators, originally available only as pneumatic units; as well as the release of the ADJ/QR actuators, available only as hydraulic units. The ADJ/QR actuators have been designed to simplify the process of fine-tuning the valve-pin length to the gate; they have a valve pin that can be adjusted by 1mm. In addition to this feature allowing valve-pin adjustment, the ADJ/QR actuators have a quick-release mechanism that allows the units to be removed independently from other actuators. In addition to these new products, since Mold-Masters first introduced its 63mm pneumatic version of the waterless actuator, the company now has expanded the waterless-actuator lineup to include a new 41mm hydraulic version and an 80mm pneumatic version. The different-sized units are compatible with Mold-Masters' Fusion-series G2 nozzles, a lineup that includes the F4000, F5000, F6000, F7000 and F8000 nozzles.
Benefits Flexibility; and fast, easy maintenance and service. The actuators in Mold-Masters’ growing portfolio offer a variety of benefits. For example, the waterless actuators are compact, minimizing tooling requirements. Meanwhile, the ADJ/QR actuators allow for adjustments to be made to the pin or actuator unit within a few minutes without special tools. The ADJ/QR actuators eliminate the need to remove plates, drain hydraulic fluid or remove or disassemble the mold, saving a significant amount of downtime.
