Omron door switches increase operator safety

Nov. 4, 2021
The D41 family of switches uses RFID technology to make it difficult to intentionally bypass the safety mechanism.

D41 door switches Equipment operators sometimes look for ways to defeat safety equipment that they feel adds unnecessary steps or negatively affects production. Omron Automation’s D41 door switches are a simple way to address these problems for both robot cells and large CNC machining centers. They are available in three models, including a non-contact door switch, a guard lock with handle and a hygienic guard locking switch.

What’s new? The family of door switches, which relies on a high-level coded RFID sensor to keep track of gate or door position.

Benefits Increased operator safety. These switches are easy to install and commission, whether by OEMs or as a retrofit on existing machinery. Operators who might be tempted to try to bypass the lock will find it very difficult, because the switch sensor and actuator are uniquely coded. The switches and actuators are compliant with multiple safety standards.
