Refrigerated dryers feature advanced refrigerant

TF series refrigerated dryers from Kaeser are used to remove moisture from compressed air, which can increase the productivity of plastics production equipment by reducing scrap and downtime.

TF series Refrigerated dryers in this series — part of the Secotec line from Kaeser Compressors — are used to remove moisture from compressed air, which can increase the productivity of plastics production equipment by reducing scrap and downtime. There are four TF models, with rated capacities ranging from 550 to 1,130 cubic feet per minute, making them compatible with compressor systems having from 125 to 250 total horsepower. The dryers’ control has an optional Ethernet interface so the units can be integrated into IIoT environments.

What’s new? The series, which boasts numerous upgrades over prior refrigerated dryers in the Secotec line. TF series dryers feature the company’s Secopack LS heat exchanger, which uses a phase-changing material that stores thermal energy as it cycles from a solid to a liquid state. They have a variable-speed exhaust fan for better heat removal. Additionally, they use the advanced R-513A refrigerant; the TF series completes the Secotec line’s transition to the more environmentally friendly refrigerant and replaces some earlier models.

Benefits Efficiency. The dryers have improved dew point control, a smaller footprint and air flow capacities that are about 6 percent greater than prior models. The new heat exchanger greatly enhances energy efficiency. A dedicated fan in the electrical cabinet and optional water cooling allow operation in high-heat environments without loss of drying capacity.
