Forward Technology, a maker of plastic welding equipment and testing systems, has invested $1.2 million in a 6,600-square-foot CNC machining facility and a new four-axis vertical machining center. The facility, which is attached to the company's headquarters manufacturing and office complex in Cokato, Minn., will also house eight existing machining centers.
"The new machining center enables us to be 100 percent self-sufficient for the production of large metal castings and welded machine frames and other related component systems for our complete portfolio of welding equipment," said Brian Kivisto, president of Forward Technology and executive VP of Crest Group, Forward Technology's parent. Being able to handle all work in-house will improve quality control and reduce lead times.
