Kongskilde Industries A/S, Sorø, Denmark, has invested $10 million in its Hudson, Ill., operations, adding equipment and 75,000 square feet of space, bringing the total space to 200,000 square feet. The plant makes materials handling equipment for the paper and plastics industries, as well as agricultural machines.
"We have consolidated all of our North American manufacturing into our Hudson facility and we were at the point where we could physically not add to our production," says Bret Henry, industrial sales manager. The expansion allows for additional space for the company's research and development department and for trial and testing, he says. Because the project will improve efficiency, the company will not immediately increase its workforce of 70 employees. The addition will begin operating this month, with a grand opening planned for September, Henry said.
