Sidel celebrates 40 years of supplying PET blow molding machines to the beverage industry. In 1980, the French company debuted its SBO, or “bi-oriented blowing” machine, the world’s first commercial blower for producing PET bottles for carbonated soft drinks. This was followed by other innovations, including the first-ever PET bottle for still water in 1985, plasma-coating technology for extended shelf life in 1999, and in 2008 Sidel’s first PET bottle for ultra-high-temperature milk. Sidel’s U.S. headquarters is in Norcross, Ga.
In a statement marking the anniversary, Guillaume Rolland, VP for PET and Sensitive Products Portfolio, said, "Throughout all the advances in equipment and packaging innovations, our underlying objectives are answering industry requirements in terms of best-in-class product integrity and superior package quality as well as providing maximum efficiency, lower total cost of ownership and sustainable competitiveness.”
