The Form 3L 3-D printer from Formlabs features two 250-milliwatt lasers.
Form 3L This 3-D printer from Formlabs features two 250-milliwatt lasers. It is designed for a special process called Low Force Stereolithography, in which Formlabs’ new proprietary resin tank flexes slightly as parts are lifted out of it. Also, as part of the process, the printer’s Light Processing Unit — including a laser and a system of lenses and mirrors — moves below the flexible tank, so that it’s always perpendicular to the area of resin it illuminates.

What’s new? More laser power and a bigger build volume. The Form 3L, which will be released in the fourth quarter, has twice as many lasers as the Form 3, which was released earlier this year. Also, compared to the earlier Form 2, the Form 3L has more uniform, precise optics.

Benefits High-quality, reliable printing. With its Light Processing Unit designed to deliver perpendicular beams of light, the Form 3L is able to print bigger items than Formlabs’ previous printers.
