Additive manufacturing (AM) quality-assurance software developer Sigma Labs Inc. has signed an agreement to collaborate with AMFG, a provider of manufacturing execution systems (MES) software for AM. The companies plan to provide customers with solutions to optimize 3D printing quality and efficiency while also cutting their serial production costs. The move would also expand the product footprint of both companies.

The companies say their goal is to boost overall equipment effectiveness.

Jacob Brunsberg, president of Sigma Labs, said, “We chose to partner with AMFG because of their solid reputation in the manufacturing execution space. Like Sigma Labs, AMFG is committed to deep collaboration that benefits individual customers as well as the additive manufacturing industry as a whole. The focus has shifted in the past several years from developing technology for technology’s sake, to solving the end user’s business problem. Both of our companies are industry leaders in embracing this trend.”

Sigma Labs is based in Santa Fe, N.M., while AMFG is headquartered in London, with U.S. offices in Irvine, Calif., and Detroit.
