AMT system finishes 3-D printed parts

Feb. 5, 2019

PostPro3D Designed for smoothing the surfaces of 3-D printed parts, the PostPro3D from Additive Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) is compatible with all powder-bed and filament-based printing technologies and machines from a wide range of makers, including BigRep, EOS, Stratasys, 3D Systems, HP, Voxeljet and Prodways. It can finish both colored and monochrome parts made of nylons, TPU, TPE and other materials. AMT’s patented process, known as BLAST, or Boundary Layer Automated Smoothing Technology, uses a gaseous chemical agent that turns partially sintered surface particles into a liquid, and levels gaps between layers of extruded parts.

What’s new? The machine, which AMT began shipping at the end of 2018.

Benefits Efficient smoothing of parts without any degradation of their mechanical properties or dimensional accuracy. The machine can smooth complex lattice structures and sections as small as 1mm. In addition to improving the surface appearance of the parts, AMT’s BLAST process seals parts against liquid or gas ingress.
